Narrandera Race Club is thrilled to kick off a busy winter of racing on Saturday, June 13, with the running of our annual Chemsave Narrandera LW Peacock Memorial Race Day.
Since 1995, the meeting has honoured the life and work of Les Peacock, affectionately known as ‘Blue’.
Blue was the president of the Club in the 1980s and took over when the club was undergoing severe financial difficulties.
He led a new team of racing enthusiasts to turn the club’s finances around, laying the foundation for a community-based club for all to enjoy.
A visionary, Blue oversaw the initial plans for the new toilets and covered betting ring.
He was a real character who was well-respected. He always sought out and encouraged volunteers to work for the club, and this remains a key to the club’s success.
The LW Peacock Memorial Race Day itself is a six-race Sky 2 program, which commences our season, and our 2026 trainer and jockey premierships.
Narrandera Race Club recently approved the running of the Peter Bloomfield Memorial Trainer and Jockey of the Year awards, which will encompass our June, July, and August meetings.
The June meeting leads into our July carnival, which includes our inaugural Golf Day and ever-growing Narrandera Cup Calcutta on Saturday, July 11 and Community Bank Narrandera Dup meeting on Sunday, July 12.
Our season then rounds out on Saturday, August 15, with the running of our Narrandera Ex-Servicemen’s Club TC Lee Memorial Family Race Day.
